Son petit mot

Nearly four years ago, Jurgen Klopp made his first public appearance as Liverpool manager. You might recall it; his speech was powerful yet confident.

Klopp has transformed Liverpool into one of the world's powerhouses during his tenure at Anfield. He instilled urgency into their play while implementing his signature gegenpressing style of football.

1. We’re not worse but we play worse than last season

Jurgen Klopp has demanded a "proper performance" from his team as they seek to inflict another Anfield defeat on Arsenal leaders Arsenal. The German has grown increasingly disenchanted with their players' inconsistency and insists the Reds must find form quickly.

Though they aren't back at their best just yet, the defending champions do possess enough talent to contend for one of the top four spots this season and the German is determined that his team be rewarded for all of its hard work this year.

Even after an underwhelming start to their season under Klopp, Liverpool have won six of eight matches they have played so far and secured seven points from four consecutive matches for the first time since his arrival at Anfield back in October 2015.

Though Klopp's side are struggling for consistency, they have shown glimpses of great football when pressing high up the pitch - something for which Klopp is well known at international level.

2. We’re not good enough

Liverpool have won their last four matches, yet their recent form suggests they won't be good enough to win the Premier League. Their loss at Brentford last week saw them slip three points away from a top-four position and sit seven points behind Manchester City.

As such, Klopp has likely been second-guessing himself and his strategies. Additionally, he doesn't know the best way to motivate his players and ensure they make a swift recovery.

The manager has achieved remarkable success in football, often coming close to winning on multiple occasions. He has taken Mainz and Borussia Dortmund higher than they ever had been before in German football, while rejuvenating Liverpool FC into one of the greatest clubs worldwide.

His vision of the red machine has made this club the envy of the world, propelling them to the summit of European football. His teams play with passion and intensity that makes them a joy to watch on match day.

3. We’re not ready

At first glance, Jurgen Klopp appeared to be wiping away tears after Liverpool's defeat at Arsenal in a contract interview, with one publisher even calling him "heartbroken". But in reality, while Klopp may be feeling emotional at times, his team still lacks the fight needed to recover from their disappointing start.

This is the first time his squad has started a season with such an extensive number of injuries. As such, he is being forced to make decisions that may be hasty and incorrect.

Klopp attributes much of this failure to the lack of a robust medical department at the club. Even though Andreas Kornmayer and Daniel Nobes, two leading club doctors, have both been involved with injury issues this season, they were not able to provide the same level of attention that Klopp demands.

4. We’re not winning

Klopp and his team have suffered four defeats in five matches, including one at Brighton on Saturday. But despite being four points adrift of the top four with 15 games to go, Klopp remains optimistic that their best is yet to come.

Liverpool's success under Klopp has been achieved through a unique combination of hard-nosed tactics and attractive attacking football. His teams press opponents into mistakes high up the pitch, then quickly regain possession and attack without giving their opponents time to breathe.

He won two Bundesliga titles, a German Cup and made it to the Champions League final during his seven seasons at Borussia Dortmund before joining the Reds. Credited with instilling an energy into the club and creating genuine team spirit throughout his tenure in charge, his players recognize and respect the values that their manager upholds and know they can count on him for support when needed.
